Costa i Llobera Gardens

These gardens, located on a cliff and reserved for exotic and tropical plants, contain one of the most extraordinary collections of cacti and succulents in Europe. On the SE slope of Montjuïc, they benefit from a microclimate that makes it possible to keep species which in other conditions would have to live in a greenhouse in the open air (sheltered from the North winds, the temperature is always two degrees higher than it is in the rest of the city).
The 800 species of cacti, succulents or thick-leaved plants that live in these gardens come from desert areas throughout the world, particularly Africa, America and Australia. A dozen species of palm trees also form part of these gardens.
