Teatre Grec

teatre grec

Built for the 1929 Universal Exhibition, the Teatre Grec, the work of Ramon Reventós, is one of the most unusual spaces in the city, with extraordinary acoustic and visual quality and a beautiful stage with stone and vegetation. The theatre, cut into the rock following a Greek layout, is surrounded by gardens designed by Jean C. Nicolas Forestier, with Mediterranean inspiration.

The theatre is the heart of the Barcelona Drama Festival, an event that takes place every year from the end of June to the beginning of August. While the festival is being held, the gardens, which can be visited throughout the year, are open in the evening: an ideal place to have dinner or a drink, or relax before and after the shows.
