Casa de la Encomienda
La Fresneda (Teruel).
Building from the 16th century, in Aragonese style. Upper floor with three wrought iron balconies and upper part with Aragonese-style arches. The Calatrava Order received the Encomienda in this house in 1180. The order remained at La Fresneda for six centuries. The Encomienda was an institution of medieval origin under which certain military orders administered territories. This building, then, reproduces the one in La Fresneda which was the headquarters of a minor encomienda, as the Master of the order lived in Alcañiz.
