Casa de los Almaraz

Plasencia (Cáceres)

Architecturally very beautiful Herrerian-style façade (16th century) because of the balance between its elements. The outstanding features are the classical doorway, pilastered balcony with Ionic capitals and the characteristic pyramids so closely identified with this style.

This is the so-called Grijalva House, which was built at the end of the 16th century. The name comes from later owners of the house, as the coat of arms on its façade declares that it was built by the Almaraz family since it is their arms that appear in it.
