MADRID
As well as being the capital of Spain, Madrid is also an autonomous community which has only one province. This community is in the geographical centre of the peninsula and has a continental climate, with cold winters, warm summers and little rain.
The capital, Madrid, is characterised by an active cultural life, with libraries, universities, museums, exhibitions, theatres and all kinds of facilities.
Throughout history, the Madrid area has acted as a point of confluence for the different cultures that have populated the peninsula since antiquity.
