THE BASQUE COUNTRY
The geography and land relief of the Basque Country have had a deep influence on its history and on many ethnic, cultural and socio-economic elements of its inhabitants.
One of the most characteristic elements of Basque culture is its language, Euskera, which, although it has suffered many difficulties, has survived down to our time.
The Basque Country is made up of three provinces: Álava, with Vitoria-Gasteiz as its capital; Guipuzcoa, with San Sebastián / Donostia as its capital; and Vizcaya, with Bilbao as its capital.
In the Village there are three buildings from each of the historic territories making up the Basque Country.
