The Festival

The 5th edition of Be Prog! My Friend will bring together on the 29 and 30 June the best current progressive rock and metal bands from around the world. Plaza Mayor in Poble Espanyol will once again be the setting for this boutique festival that we have seen created and awarded with the prestigious Best Event at Prog Awards 2016.

The line-up will be headlined by the American group A Perfect Circle, who have been a leading example of the genre since 1999 and will present their new record “Eat The Elephant” live. The prolific British musician Steve Hackett will also be playing. He shot to fame in the 70s as the guitarist for Genesis and will be returning to his old songs from his past with this band, as well as his own creations from over 30 records, with “The Night Siren” being his latest.

Nordic countries are also well represented in the festival’s line-up: from Sweden, Pain of Salvation will be there with their latest work “In The Passing Light of Day” and a reunion show from Burst after their break-up in 2009; from Finland, Oranssi Pazuzu with what is considered to be one of the best metal records from 2016, “Värähtelijä”, and from Norway, the neo-progressive art rock band Gazpacho, often compared to Radiohead, with their new record, which will be released this spring.

From the American continent, we will receive Sons of Apollo, playing for the first time in Europe and the sludge metal band, Baroness. From the other side of the ocean, the virtuoso Australian guitarist and young emerging figure in progressive rock, Plini, and to complete the spectacular line-up of this edition of Be Prog! My Friend, a star performance from the Andorran band, Persefone.

Lovers of progressive music, you cannot miss this benchmark festival in Barcelona!
