Chinese shadows make up one of the oldest arts of puppet theatry. This art has been travelling the world, bringing characters to life, playing out incredible scenes and creating stories that awaken the imagination of the spectators.
This discipline comes to Poble Espanyol through the renowned Valeria Guglietti, with her show Cinema's shadows, a parody about cinema characters and several scenes from the big screen.
Using the shadows of her hands and in mute, like a homemade film, the show exhibits to everyone how the characters are magically made and unmade, with smooth controlled movements and small accessories, entrusting the public with the pleasure of playing with their own shadow.
Make Sunday special and don't miss out on this show. You are sure to have lots of fun with your family and friends!
Sombras Chinas is the company belonging to the Argentinian Valeria Guglietti, who acquired a surprising ability with her hands thanks to studying the piano when she was a child. From then on, she became interested in Chinese shadows, which there wasn't a lot of information about.
Once she arrived in Europe, Guglietti started to involve new accessories, visual effects and sound tracks into her shows. Due to the versatility of her shows, with them being mute and aimed at all types of public, she has participated in numerous puppet, circus, visual arts, magic and street theatre festivals across the world, and she has won a long list of awards.
Valeria Guglietti also gives classes, talks and workshops for adults, children and professionals.
