Christmas at Poble Espanyol - Santa Claus
December is the month of hope, good wishes and gifts; one of the most magical times of the year, especially for the little ones who eagerly and excitedly await the arrival of Santa Claus.
This spirit will invade Poble Espanyol from December 6th to 10th. The premises will be turned into an impressive themed space unlike any other in the city, where you can also come to witness and experience some of the most deeply rooted Catalan traditions, such as the live nativity scenes (Martorelles on December 9th and Sant Feliu de Llobregat on December 10th) or participate in the typical Catalan tradition of making the Tió wood log “poo-out” the presents (an undoubtedly unique tradition), while singing along to the popular song. And then there is the cavern with wonderful Catalan cooking for all those hungry bellies and a popular escudella (traditional Catalan Christmas stew) on 8 December.
The Plaza Mayor will become the neuralgic center of the Poble with a Christmas market where you can find decorations to use in your home as well as traditional foods or crafts.
While this Christmas joy is also contagious to adults, children are indisputably the protagonists of the celebration, which is why we have prepared a wide range of Christmas activates for children with workshops, gymkhanas, animation, performances, film projections (Andorra Kids' Film Festival), children make up (Cazcarra School), etc. However, the most highly anticipated moment will be the visit to Santa Claus's House, where children will be able to give him their letter and try to convince this character that they have been good during the year and that Santa should bring them what they’ve asked for. The pacifier tree is there for all the boys and girls who have “grown up” and want to take the opportunity to take this important step.
Don’t forget to hang your wishes on the wish tree and enjoy Christmas in Barcelona as a family!
Christmas activties will continue from the 21st December to 5th January!
