Hansel and Gretel, the children of a poor woodcutter, are abandoned in the middle of a forest by their stepmother. The children leave breadcrumbs to find their way home but then they realise a bird has eaten their only hope of finding their way back. Wait... What is that? A house with walls of chocolate, candy windows and a meringue roof... Mmm. What they’ll find inside won’t be as fantastic as they imagined. Will they manage to escape?
This puppet show brings back the classic tale from German tradition written at the end of the 19th century by the wonderful Grimm brothers.
To speak of the Sebastià Vergés Company is to speak of tradition, family and, of course, Catalan puppetry. Founded in 1910 in El Garraf (Catalonia), the company has participated to great acclaim in numerous international puppet festivals, generation after generation. Today, Sebastià Vergés and Montserrat Albalate produce new work and reinterpret old pieces so they are remembered as they should be.
